Based on a work by painter and textile designer Lisa Cicotte, the “Lisa” rugs were custom-woven in Nepal for Navab Brothers. This rug, along with the other brown-field version, are both on display at the showroom in the American Rug Laundry building in Minneapolis.
All handmade rugs are works of art, but we especially love these two “art rugs” that actually depict an original work of art. The design is an interpretation in wool of an artwork by Twin Cities painter and textile designer Lisa Cicotte. The image is from a series she created on her iPhone featuring abstract boxes stacked together to resemble the human form. The two hand-tied rugs have the same design and were woven in Nepal around 2019. Each measures 4 ft. by 6 ft. They are currently on display at the American Rug Laundry handmade rug showroom in Minneapolis.
